What kind of Paint and brushes For Painting wood furniture?
I’ll be painting words, flowers, lots of detial like people and also some base colors too. I don’t know what kind of paint this is good for, what kind of coat to put over it (matt or gloss) and also I what kind of brushes work best?
And if you can give me an idea on what kind of sander to get to sand the furniture b/c the sheets of sandpaper aren’t going to cut it! ha!

If you want the best you need to go down to a Art Store not a craft store. Ask them what brushed they would recommend. There are way to many brands. But i can tell you craft stores and wood working stores sell Good brushes for what they do but not for painting detail.
As for paint. I would get a nice wood primer and base from homedepot and use foam brushes . But before you put the primer down you will need to sand and put in wood filler to make it flat. Unless you want it to be porous. For the paint used to paint with i would get at The Art Store. Make sure you stay with the same type as you used with the homedepot . oil/water(acrylic).
For the sander I would get 2 types.
A low cost vibrating sand. To use on all the legs and smaller places.
Then i would get a Orbital Rotating Sander to use on the tops and any large areas. They’re much faster and they don’t eat the wood away like a belt sander. They makes nice little “c shaped” marks that take paint really well.Only problem is they’re not cheap.
Of course you want to start with a large grit paper and work your way down. You will evenwant to sand again after you put down your primer.(just dont sand the primer off)
As for the matt or gloss this would have to go with what look you’re after. You’re going to have to do some tests. But that is the fun part.
Some things you can test is putting down a semi gloss over the paint area to protect it. Also they have clear epoxy you can cover the area with it kind of looks like putting down a glass cover. They have it at homedepot by the fiberglass and other glues. Looks kind of cool. But sometimes look tacky. My view is if you can get away without cover it all looks the best.
