Car Paint
Any recommendations for car Paint touch up?
I have a 2000 chevy cavalier. There is a very small area where the paint chipped off and started to rust on the trunk. I bought a bottle of rust converter. I was planning On Painting the area with the original car color. The only problem is that my car Paint Color is discontinued. Any recommendations on what I can do?
Even if you could get the original paint, it probably would not match because your car has faded or oxidized. If you don’t want to do body work and paint large areas, just sand off as much rust as possible and touch up with a primer and paint to the edges of the good paint. It will look cheap, but it is…cheap. If you can’t stand it, grind off the rust, repair and fill the damaged area, and either paint the panel (trunk, quarter, etc.) or paint the whole car. Eight years is a long life for a paint job if it’s been out in the weather, anyway.
